Chandarkhani Malana Trek

Chandakhani Pass, Malana trek is one of the most scenic treks in Himachal Predesh. This Trek starts from Rumasu village, the real traditional Village of Kullu valley, it goes through the Pine, Silver Birch forest, Rorodendom Field and Chandarkhani meadowas to Chandarkhani Pass. One can see beautiful panoramic view of Himalaya from Chandarkhani Pass. The trek descends down to Malana valley and end in Democratic village Malana.

Itinerary

Day 1
Manali to Naggar by jeep, Trek to Muling, 4 hours (2300m)
The trek starts with half an hour drive straight to Naggar. After spending a couple of hours looking at the sights of Naggar, including the famous Roerich gallery and the ancient wooden castle, the trek starts from Rumsu village(the Real traditional village of Kullu valley) and pass through the pine forest, before arriving at the campsite on a sheltered plateau.

Day 2
Muling to Chaklani, 5 hours (3300m)
Today the trek heads to the next camp at the base of the Chandrakhani Pass. The trail goes through beautiful pine, oak and Silver BIrch forests. Large areas of rhododendrons and gives spectacular veiws back into the Kullu Valley and beyond.

Day 3
Chaklani to Nagruni, over Chandrakhani Pass, 5 hours (3300m)
The trail goes uphill for short distance to reach Chandarkhani pass (3650m.),, after spending some time & taking in the views of the central part of the Great Himalayan Range, the trek goes through steady descent into the Malana Valley and the quiet pasture of Nagruni where is tonight’s campsite.

Day 4
Trek Nagruni to Malana village 4 hours, Drive to Manali 3 hours
The trek now descends down to Malana River & follows the river down the valley straight to the village of Malana. Due to it's isolated location, the Milanese were separated from the rest of the area for a long time. Supposedly descended from Alexander the Great, they have a different look and nature to the rest of the Kullu valley area. They self governed themselves for many years and still to this day they have a strict set of rules in the community that makes their culture stand apart from the rest of the Kullu Valley . One has to be very careful how we behave inside the village and abide by the rules in place. To break a rule could result in a fine of a goat sacrifice to the village God . From the village the trail heads down towards the river once again and leads to the road head to Manali.

Includes – All transport from Manali To Manali, all accommodation (in tent), all meals during the trek, communal trekking equipment (tents, sleeping beg, sleeping mat, kitchen, horse/porters..), guide, cook.

Excludes – First day breakfast and last day dinner. Transportation to reach Manali & leave Manali. Accomodation in Manali.
