Bhawa Pass Trek

This trek goes through the beautiful monastery filled Lahaul and Spiti regions before trekking over two passes and through some of the Himalaya’s amazing national parks. The trip start’s in a jeep and then head into the hills on foot to finally finish in the charming hill station of Simla

Itinerary

Day 1
Manali to Kaza (3600m) 8 hours by jeep
The trip starts with a drive over the Rohtang and Kunzum Passes and head into the Spiti Valley. It's a long mountainous journey that moves through some spectacular scenery. Crossing over the Rohtang Pass (3950m) there is a stark contrast with the Kullu Valley behind. Snow covered, rocky peaks accompany the journey through the Lahaul Valley heading towards Kunzum. Crossing the Kunzum Pass (4500m) brings another change in the scenery. One can see the long sloping, stony hills as the roads leads to town of Kaza.

Day 2
Kaza to Mood by Langza and Comic village 6 HRS
Today is an acclimatization visit to Langza village ( 4300m.) and Comic village (44450m.) one can see the highest Monastery also situated here. After visiting these villages drive down to valley floor and straight to Mood, last village of Pin valley where one can find beautiful mountain scenery and views of monasteries.

Day 3
Mud to Barabalder (4100m) 6 hours
Today the trek starts and moves through the barren and rocky Pin Valley for the whole day crossing several small streams and slowly gaining height before reaching the camp. This area is in the Great Himalayan National Park, home to some India's greatest wildlife. Black and Brown bears, snow leopards and ibex all live in this park.

Day 4
Barabalder to Fustiarang(4100m) over Bhaba Pass (4800m) 6-7 hours
The trek heads up and over the Bhaba Pass (4800m) today. A steady ascent leads to the snout of the glacier and then goes up a steep section to get to the pass itself. As one reaches the pass they are rewarded with great views & witness the change in scenery. The Pin Valley behind is lacking the vegetation that can be seen now on the other side of Bhaba Valley. The sight is welcome after a few days in the rocky wilderness of Spiti and as one descends steeply towards the camp it gets even more beautiful. Tonight’s camp is in a beautiful spot full of flowers and surrounded by mountains on every side.

Day 5
Fustiarang to Muling (3500m) 5 hours
The trek continues down the valley today passing through several nice meadows. It eventually reaches the tree line and pass through the first woodlands. The camp for the night is in another meadow situated above the Bhaba river and have great views of the whole valley.

Day 6
Muling to Kafanu (3200m) 5 hours
The trail heads down to the village of Kafanu today. After crossing a few more meadows it enters the forest once again and makes its way down the valley. As it comes out of the forest one can see the first cultivated area for days. Apple and apricot orchards are all around, as it reaches Kafanu. The trek reaches the road head here, and a straight two hours drives lead to Sarahan (bheema kali temple) for the night in hotel.

Day 7
Sarahan to Simla
Sarahan to Simla ...6 hours drive to simla on Indo tibet highway, visiting Rampoor and Narkanda on the way.

Inclusive - Jeep Manali to Kaza, Kaza to Mood, Kafnu to Shimla. Hotel accommodation at Kaza and Sarhan in twin sharing basis, all tented accommodation, all meals during the trek, communal trekking equipment (tents, kitchen, sleeping bag, sleeping mat, horse/porters), guide and cook.
